Improving Diving Skills specialty
"It is always possible to improve" - is not just a slogan, but an attitude that pushes to improve and move forward.
Many divers, both beginners and experienced, neglect important practices and do not devote enough time to improving the skill. Good control of basic techniques and especially balance, not only makes the diver safer for himself and the underwater environment, but also increases the enjoyment of diving.
IDS is a diving speciality that every diver should take, regardless of his intention to advance or not to continue to more advanced courses.
Who is the internship for:
- For divers who wish to advance to the level of 3-star diver: this Specialty is a Prerequisit for the 3-star course. As part of the internship, the instructor will identify issues that require improvement and will build a work plan together with the diver to improve theoretical knowledge and water performance.
- For divers who wish to improve their personal diving level: at the beginning of the course, the diver will have a knowledge and diving performance assessment on all the basic exercises (similar to an "extended" refresher dive) and according to the results of these assessment, the diver, together with his dive instructor, will build a work plan to improve the subjects in which he chooses to improve.
- For divers who have not dived for several years since the course (or have not dived at all after the course) and wish to return to diving activity.
Learning objectives:
This speciality is essentially practical and is based on a measure of performance success. however, as with all stages of study, one-time success should not be enough. The trainee must repeat and practice for the purpose of assimilating the knowledge.
During the speciality , the trainees will perform at least 2 dives, with the instructor deciding whether to add to the one listed in the array if the goal was not achieved.
During the speciality , the trainees will repeat the important points of the theoretical material studied in the one star and two star course.
Class structure:
The speciality will begin with a theoretical exem - a test at the level of the 1 star course, the results of the test will define which of the subjects it is necessary to refresh and strengthen the knowledge and accordingly a theoretical refresher classes will be determined.
The practical phase of the speciality includes 2 mandatory dives:
The first dive will focus on repeating the rules of the basic exercises as taught in the 1 Star course. In addition, the diver's buoyancy, swimming style, breathing and air consumption will be assessed.
The divers can ask the instructor to film them during the exercises and use these videos to explore and understand where improvement is needed.
The second dive will be carried out after a dive debriefing of the first dive in which goals for the second dive will be set.
Among the topics that are usually studied are: choosing the right weights, improving thbuoyancy capabilities, breathing correctly, performing skill exercises while balancing such as prolonged diving without a mask, removal and wearing the mask while diving (not on the knees), breathing emergency exercises while swimming, and more.
class duration:
The minimum time required to complete the program is one day, but the divers will usually choose to do several additional sessions depending on the topics in which they will seek to improve their diving skills in coordination with the diving guide.
To register for the course - go to one of the TIDF Dive Centers in the Mediterranean and Eilat
The Israeli Diving Federation has over 20 Dive Centers - from Akhziv in the north to Eilat in the south. So you can choose between a diving course close to home or a course in Eilat, and even a combined Mediterranean and Eilat course.
